Senior Challenge

The Senior Challenge is the first opportunity for SU seniors to show their appreciation for the many opportunities that Stevenson University has provided to each of them.  Each graduating class member is asked to make a donation, honoring a tradition and creating a legacy of support.  The Senior Council challenges each member of the senior class to participate in the Senior Challenge, which is part of the Stevenson University Annual Fund.  It's called a challenge because the goal is to have each graduating class give more than the prior year's senior class. This is a chance for seniors to leave their mark on SU and continue a Stevenson University tradition.

You can make your gift online or mail your gift payable to Stevenson University to:

Frequently Asked Questions:

What's the Annual Fund?
Gifts through the Senior Challenge support the Annual Fund which provides and strengthens scholarships and student financial aid, academic programs, student life activities, library resources, athletic programs, classroom equipment and so much more!  Just ask yourself these questions:

  • Have you ever used the library or one of its online databases?
  • Have you ever used a computer somewhere on campus?
  • Did you attend a welcome picnic, Spring Back to Life or May Day?
  • Did you ever relax with friends at a table near the pond?
  • Have you accessed the University's wireless Internet service?
  • Did you visit Career HQ® for help with your résumé, interview skills, or to schedule an on-campus interview?
  • Did you receive financial aid or a scholarship?

If you answered “yes” to just one of these questions, then you benefited from the gifts that alumni, parents, faculty and staff, businesses, and foundations made to the Annual Fund.

Why should I give back when I already pay full tuition, or I have student loans?
Believe it or not, tuition only covers about 72% of the cost of educating a SU student.  Thus, even when you pay full tuition – now or by repaying student loans after graduation, Stevenson significantly subsidized your education – and can do this only through the generosity of past and present donors.

I'm graduating and don't need any of those services anymore, so why should I give?
Alumni give to the Annual Fund because they want current and future students to have the same quality education that they had. Others give as a way of saying “thank you” for the great support they received from faculty and staff.  Improving Stevenson's reputation is another reason for giving.  As we become more successful and recognized, your degree carries more weight.  In other words, instead of people asking you, "You went where?" they'll say, "You went there?!"

Don't you need big gifts to make a difference?  Will my contribution really make a difference?
Yes, your gift will make a difference at Stevenson. It will provide direct support to students and professors. It will send a signal to alumni, parents, and the rest of the SU community that you value your education and will inspire them to give, too. By joining together with your classmates, you will have an even greater impact. By combining your class gift with gifts from Annual Fund donors, you will be a part of providing financial aid to undergraduates, increasing funding to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, adding to the University’s library and technology resources, and enhancing the student living and learning experience. Participation and consistency are what are important.

How can I make my gift?
It’s easy – you can charge your gift online, drop it off at the Mueller House on the Greenspring Campus, or mail a check, payable to Stevenson University, to: Senior Challenge, Stevenson University Institutional Advancement, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, Maryland 21153.

Thank you for your support!
