Admission requirements:

  • Successful completion of all prerequisite coursework before beginning the program (see the appropriate list of prerequisite courses below)
  • 3.0 or better cumulative GPA in all prior college courses
  • 3.0 or better GPA in the required sciences
  • Anatomy & Physiology I and II and Microbiology must have been successfully completed within five years of program entry. Exceptions are determined on a case-by-case basis by the Nursing Division.

Prerequisite course requirements for first-time bachelor's degree students:

If you are a transfer student who wants to transfer directly into the 300-level nursing sequence or a student considering the part-time option, you must meet the following prerequisites.

General Biology with lab (4 credits) Information Technology in Nursing and Healthcare (3 credits)*

General, Organic, and Biochemistry with lab (4 credits)

Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)

General, Organic, and Biochemistry with lab (4 credits)

Introduction to Sociology (3 credits)
Anatomy & Physiology I with lab (4 credits) English Composition (3 credits)
Anatomy & Physiology II with lab (4 credits) Introduction to Literature (3 credits)
Microbiology with lab (4 credits) English Writing (200+)
Nutrition (3 credits) Physical Education (1 credit)

Three humanities- History, Religion, Philosophy or additional Literature (9 credits total,from three different disciplines)

Prerequisite course requirements for second-time bachelor's degree students:

If you are a transfer student who wants to transfer directly into the 300-level nursing sequence or a student considering the part-time option AND YOU ALREADY HAVE A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ANOTHER DISCIPLINE, you must meet the following prerequisites.

General, Organic and Biochemistry with lab (4 credits) Nutrition (3 credits) 
General, Organic and Biochemistry with lab (4 credits) Statistics (4 credits)

Admission Procedures

  • Complete the paper application or Apply Online. Please make sure to designate "Part-time Nursing" on the application.
  • Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. A current resume and a plan for completion of any remaining pre-requisite classes are recommended.
  • Decision letters are mailed after February 1 on a monthly basis. Accepted students will receive information regarding advising, registration, and other enrollment requirements and procedures, including the mandatory completion of the Student Health Form.
  • Students must be officially registered at least two weeks prior to the start of their first class. Accepted nursing students are required to attend a mandatory pre-class orientation meeting which is held one week prior to the start of the first term.
